Fans who didn’t make it out to Coachella this year to watch the hologram of Tupac Shakur perform may be in luck. The “Wall Street Journal” is citing a source who says the virtual Tupac may be heading out on the road. Digital Domain Media Group Inc. created the hologram, and they’ve apparently been in discussions with representatives for Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre about a possible tour. One possible option would have Snoop, Dre, Tupac and fellow rap stars like 50 Cent, Eminem and Wiz Khalifa performing in stadiums. A second option would feature just Tupac, Snoop and Dre touring smaller venues across the country. A spokeswoman for Dre and Snoop declined to comment about any possible tours.

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg were headliners at Coachella last Sunday night where they were joined on stage by a hologram of the late Tupac Shakur. The life-like image of the rap icon performed hits like “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.” Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg will return to Coachella this weekend to headline Sunday’s lineup.

Even the mother of late rapper Tupac Shakur is praising the hologram effects that brought her son back to the concert stage on Sunday night. A rep for Afeni Shakur tells TMZ.com Shakur was thrilled with the hologram performance at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California. The virtual stunt created a lifelike image of her son rapping and walking back and forth across the stage alongside real-life hip hop stars Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. While Afeni was not actually present for the performance at the Empire Polo Club, she did catch it as it played out live on the Internet. As to the usage rights of Tupac’s image at Coachella, they came with the blessing of his fiercely protective mom. Afeni’s rep says Dr. Dre asked her for approval to incorporate the late rapper into his performance in advance of the concert, then made a donation to the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation as a thank you.
