Ne-Yo, yea, the singer. Ne-Yo has turned down an unspecified movie playing Martin Luther King, Jr. because he was focused on the music. The album R.E.D. is scheduled to release in mid-September but what do you think of Ne-Yo playing MLK in a movie that he didn’t have to put money up for? Somebody actually like Ne-Yo enough to think he would do a stellar job as MLK? We’ve seen Ne-Yo’s talents in the likes of “Stomp The Yard,” “Battle Los Angeles,” and “Red Tails.” Would you feel comfortable with him playing Martin Luther King, Jr.?

Ne-Yo is very interested in finding the right movie roles to further his career in acting and has currently been receiving numerous scripts from up-coming movies. A quote from Ne-Yo underneath explains why music was more important than acting when he was approached with the MLK movie role.

“I definitely want to do more acting but it’s got to make sense with the music. I recently had to turn down an amazing opportunity to be in a movie playing Martin Luther King. They wanted to start shooting at the time my album R.E.D. comes out and wanted me to gain 30 pounds, so I couldn’t do it. I’m kicking myself but acting can’t take the place of my music. Plus, I’ve been killing myself in the gym for months preparing for this album because I wanted a complete makeover.”

Winning at movies and focusing on music too? Ne-Yo is giving fans a time to rejoice as the album R.E.D. approaches closer to it’s release date.
