A sad day for Tennessee Titans fans and players as news has come in that wide receiver, O.J. Murdock has committed suicide from a self inflicted gun shot early this morning. Training camp has just begun and questions were asked why the receiver wasn’t in camp, which led head coach Mike Munchak to respond with “personal reasons.”

Unfortunately, the star of Middleton High School in Tampa, Florida could be said to be the origin of O.J. Murdock’s path to the NFL and sadly, it’s also where it ended. Early this morning, police discovered the wounded Murdock in his car parked in front of the school. In critical condition, Murdock was rushed to Tampa General Hospital where he would later pass. Murdock was only 25 years of age.

As a player, Murdock joined the Titans in 2011 as a walk-on and placed on injury reserve early last year. Working himself all the way past the final cut, only to get injured and never play a game had to be something difficult to deal with. Murdock never played a game for the Titans but he will truly be missed from fans and players. May O.J. Murdock rest in peace, and our condolences to his family and friends.
