Rakim appears to believe he can attempt a successful comeback without the original formula which previously landed him a homerun. The other half of Eric B & Rakim has announced he’s partnering with Pharrell to make a return to the record business happen.
The news broke while Rakim was in The Motor City for an appearance alongside some of Hip Hop’s original pioneers – other than Eric B, of course. That’s where Rakim told press attendees he’s planning to make his comeback before the year is done – this time, without his original partner. Don’t believe me.. Ask Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane and Doug E Fresh.
Here’s what Rakim had to say:
“I’m in the studio with Pharrell. Plan to release a single before the end of the year.”
Rakim has worked with some of the biggest hip hop producers in the industry. Don’t believe me.. Ask Dr Dre. Now, I’m hoping Pharrell has the magic to pull off what Eric B’s talent did in making the Godfather of Rap hit songs. Don’t you agree?
