8. “Big Words”

AFFRM’s third release, “Big Words”  is the directing debut of journalist turned filmmaker Neil Drumming.  Members of a once promising 90′s hip-hop group cross paths on the night of the 2008 presidential election when Barack Obama is voted into office.  Strong performances by Dorian Missick and Gbenga Akinnagbe carry this provocative drama as their characters ponder their place as modern black men as our nation teetered on the precipice of change.
