The University of Toledo looks to help students with three new initiatives.

According to utoledo.edu, the institution wants to make a way for students to get an affordable college education. Prospective students should be happy to hear that the university is not raising undergraduate tuition and all fees for the 2013-14 academic year.

“We know finances are tight”

said the university,

For freshman at most schools it is required that they live on campus and have a meal plan. This academic year UT won’t be requiring some students living on campus to have meal plans.

Living situations can be difficult as a college student, so the university is giving all new students living in the residence halls with 24 or more credits and a 2.5 GPA the opportunity for a 25% housing discount for the 2013-14 academic year.

Many question the cost of higher education in general. I hopeĀ UT’s efforts to help students afford a college education works for them and starts a much needed trend to help people succeed. I think too many people drop out of college because of finances.
