During a recent interview, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas set the record straight regarding her current relationship with boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr., as well as her former love affair with R&B veteranUsher.
The TLC singer, who also starred on VH1’s “What Chilli Wants,” explained that her connection with Floyd, which viewers got a peek at during the series, was just a friendship, contrary to popular belief.
“I am always going to be cool with Floyd. That’s my boy. I love him. He loves me. We did not have anything romantic going on,” Chilli told Bossip.com. While fans of the show may have speculated that Floyd and Chilli had done some belly-smacking at some point, she said mutual friends have always known the truth and Floyd never let that rumor go unchecked.
“He never ever allowed anybody in his circle to assume that we slept together,” she said, joking that Floyd denied he’d ever be a “P_$$% thief.”
Usher is a different story.
The pair dated for two media-crazed years, but Chilli clarified that his ’04 album Confessions was not about their relationship.
“We were together when he recorded that album,” she told Us Weekly. “All of those songs on Confessions, that was about Jermaine Dupri’s situation. Usher was just singing it.”
The songs on the successful album weren’t about their romance, so why did Chilli and Usher end things?
“We broke up because I guess it was that time or whatever,” said Chilli. “He was that real love for me.”
