Hova’s in hot water with Major League Baseball.
Jay Z hasn’t been a sports agent for a year, and already the MLB is looking into his conduct. The Magna Carta Holy Grail rapper gave his own Roc Nation Sports client Robinson Cano a limited edition Shawn Carter Classic Fusion watch by Hublot [worth about $34,000] to the baller for his birthday.
The Yankee slugger showed the watch off on his Instagram saying – “Thanks to the ROC NATION my birthday gift.” Adding, “#2/100 made # Shawn Carter limited edition.”
While it’s a nice gesture, the gift appears to be totally against the rules. The New York Daily News reports:
MLBPA regulations forbid agents from offering “any money, or any other thing of value” to players in order to persuade them to continue using their services. Agents can give gifts to players who are already their clients but the union must be notified in writing of any gift exceeding $500.
