Kandi Burruss defends Porsha Williams, offers new wedding details

Kandi Burruss doesn’t think it’s fair that Porsha Williams’ reality TV gig be taken away from her just because of her tussle with Kenya Moore.

“If you’re going to let someone go, it shouldn’t be because of that,” Kandi recently told Bethenny Frankel, recalling past season altercations involving NeNe Leakes, Kim Zolciak and Sheree Whitfield. “It’s been other things to happen that people didn’t get fired for. So, I don’t think it’s fair to do that to her.”

Like many of her co-stars, Kandi agreed that Porsha was provoked by nemesis Kenya who continued to point a scepter in Porsha’s directions.

“It was a lot going on… She was pushed. She definitely was provoked; I would think,” said Kandi.

Rumors have been swirling about Porsha getting the axe by Bravo, but as far as Kandi’s concerned, they’re just that.

“No one has told me that they’re getting rid of Porsha,” said Kandi who didn’t comment on Porsha’s recent arrest in connection with the “RHOA” reunion bout.

Part 1 of the 3-part “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reunion airs Sunday at 8 p.m. EST. Kandi’s new husband, Todd Tucker, and her mother will be making appearances. According to Kandi, viewers shouldn’t expect to see a lot of growth in Todd and Mama Joyce’s relationship.

Though her mother kept her word and did not object to the marriage during the Coming to America-themed ceremony, Kandi noted that her mom wasn’t exactly joyous during the occasion.

“She was there, but not smiling,” said Kandi who was doing enough grinning for the both of them. “It was so funny. I totally lost cool points. I could not stop smiling like a clown. I was doing the wrong smile. I was super happy.”

Mama Joyce’s several concerns about Kandi and Todd’s relationship were a major storyline of season 6, and Kandi has no idea why her mother still has issues with Todd. However, she thinks her mom may just be trying to save face. “She went so hard, she just doesn’t want to be wrong at this point,” reasoned Kandi who is happy to be married to Todd, despite her mom’s displeasure.

“I am in a much better place!” she wrote in her BravoTV.com blog. “Things are better, just not where I want them to be between Todd and my mom.”

Viewers will be able to see Kandi, Todd and Mama Joyce’s interactions when Kandi’s wedding special airs. They’ll also get to see what Kandi calls “the best wedding ever.

“We had 300 people there… It was awesome,” said Kandi. “We had Doug E. Fresh. We had Bell Biv DeVoe perform. The reception was awesome.”

According to Kandi, the bachelorette party was pretty memorable, too, thanks, in part, to bridesmaid/”RHOA” co-star Phaedra Parks.

“Phaedra, she outdid herself this time. She’s always one to turn up the party. She brought some very unique strippers this time. She didn’t do the norm. We have male strippers for everything. This time, she went totally left. She made it fun. She had a little person come and do something. She had an old lady. It was just out of the box.”

Kandi confirmed that her “RHOA” co-stars Porsha and Cynthia Bailey attended the wedding, along with former cast mate Sheree Whitfield. However, Kim Zolciak, Kenya and NeNe Leakes didn’t show up.

NeNe was taping “Dancing with the Stars” at the time, and Kenya was filming “Celebrity Apprentice,” though both were invited to Kandi’s wedding.

Though they weren’t able to help her celebrate her big day, Kandi hopes all the women will be back for “RHOA” season 7.

“I feel like everybody on our cast was great this year s far as storylines. I want to see everybody go to the next season,” she said.
