Sherri Shepherd’s estranged husband Lamar Sally refutes rumors that he wanted “The View” co-host to sign a prenup amendment that required her to lose weight.
Last week, TMZ reported that Lamar wanted Sherri to submit to him in honor to God, engage in “inhibited” lovemaking and “maintain a healthy body weight and exercise at least three times a week.”
However, Lamar called foul on the report and said the split is a result of their changing and conflicting views on marriage.
“I did not want her to sign an amendment to our prenup,” he later clarified to TMZ. “We had a lot of love in our marriage. I still love her. To no one’s fault, at some point, we started to view marriage differently.”
One source close to the couple told People that few believed Lamar and Sherri were a match made in Heaven.
“I don’t think any of us thought this was the right guy for her. He’s a very nice man, but he can’t keep up with her. She is a force of nature. The girl works morning to night,” the anonymous source said. “She needs somebody that’s her equal emotionally, intellectually and financially.”
Lamar is currently seeking custody of the couple’s baby, due next month, who is being carried by a surrogate. He is also suing for spousal support.
Niecy Nash introduced Sherri and Lamar, who is Sherri’s second husband. The two wed in 2011, but Sherri is also embroiled in a legal battle with her first husband Jeffrey Tarpley.
Jeffrey claims that Sherri has been an inattentive mother whose 9-year-old special-needs son hasn’t learned to tie his own shoes yet, according to TMZ.

Jeffery is also seeking custody of their son, accusing the actress of depending too heavily on “unskilled nannies” to care for the child.
Jeffery, who lives in California, thinks having their son relocate from New Jersey to live with him may be a better environment for the child.
Sherri is fighting back, claiming that Jeffrey is an absentee dad and filing for divorce from Lamar.
While her exes are accusing her of being a neglectful mother, Sherri spent Sunday supporting her son during his first track meet. She posted photos and tweeted about his performance.
