Amerie is back! Five years since her last album, the singer returns to her roots on her new single “What I Want.” The funky track finds her belting over a soulful sample of Sugarhill Gang’s “Apache.” Much like her 2005 Rich Harrison-produced hit “1 Thing,” the irresistible number features a go-go rhythm and a catchy chorus.

Personally…I’m an Amerie fan but this one might have to grow on me.
