Cleveland Cavaliers stars LeBron James and Kyrie Irving wore T-shirts with “I Can’t Breathe” on them while warming up for Monday night’s game at the Brooklyn Nets.

“It was a message to the family that I’m sorry for their loss, sorry to his wife and that’s what it’s about,” James said after the Cavs beat the Nets with Prince William and Princess Kate in attendance. “I think everybody gets caught up in everything else besides who’s really feeling it, and that’s the family.”

At this time, he NBA will not fine any of the players who have worn the T-shirts, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports’ Sam Amick. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the situation.

I think it’s really important that we show our respect to the families,” said Irving in the locker room before the game. “More importantly we’re in the city where tragedy happened and it’s really important to us that we stand up for a cause, especially this one. It hits close to home and means a lot to me.
