The 40th Annual People's Choice Awards - Arrivals

Can someone please direct Naya Rivera to the nearest shower? The Glee actress appeared on The View today to act as guest co-host while moderator Whoopi Goldberg is recovering from a herniated disk. The panelist started to discuss co-host Nicolle Wallace’s claims she showers over three times a day. Naya decided to pipe up and claim only “whites” hit the showers more than “ethnics” (yes she said ethnics!). According to Naya:

I have to say I have a theory about showering, which is that I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnics. I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing.

Girl what? Rosie O’Donnell zeroed in on a black woman in the audience who looked like she was about to pass out and quipped:

Look, there is an African-American woman right there in a yellow shirt that is about to have a heart attack.

Rosie then asked her if she took daily showers, to which the woman nodded she did. Naya tried to backpeddle on the situation by saying:

My mom is half-black, half-Puerto Rican she showers every day, so I can say this. But I can say that I am now married to a white man , and he showers a lot. Like, a lot like two, three times a day. I’m like, ‘What are you doing?

Keeping clean obviously! Naya went to point out a study that she felt backed up her claims. Naya remarked:

A study says… a dermatologist says you are only supposed to shower once or twice every three days, so I’m right on the mark!

Apparently people of color on Twitter were NOT feeling Naya trying to speak out for them regarding hygiene and said so.

Feeling the heat of her comments, Naya tried to joke it off online by saying:

Maybe Naya’s outlandish comments are one of the reason’s why Big Sean wrote (allegedly) his diss anthem IDFWU?
