14-year-old trans activist Jazz Jennings just inked a deal with TLC for a new reality show, All That Jazz, which will chronicle her transgender and teenage life–juggling her foray into high school while navigating how a transgender teen approaches dating and sleepovers all while avoiding male puberty. The show will feature 11 episodes of the young teen who’s been called the “New Face of Transgender Youth.”

Jennings has been seen on 20/20, The Rosie Show and she was named as one of the Most Influential Teens of 2014 by Time magazine. She was born as a male and throughout her young life, identified as a female. Jennings was diagnoses with gender identity disorder. She wrote a children’s book, I Am Jazz with Jessica Herthel about life as a trans teen.

“Jazz’s story is universal, yet unique, and we’re proud to partner with her family to share it with TLC’s audience,” TLC GM Nancy Daniels said. “Jazz may be known as an author and activist, but she’s first and foremost a teenage girl with a big, brave heart, living a remarkable life.”

Added Marjorie Kaplan, group president at TLC and Animal Planet: “We know that families come in all shapes and sizes, but at their core, they are all about love, acceptance, and support. Only TLC can tell this family’s story in way that celebrates and demystifies difference in an effort to help create a world without prejudice.”

What a beautiful way to shine light on younger kids who have gender identity issues. Jennings’ entire life and now her reality show can act as a beacon of light for those who feel “weird” or like they don’t belong. All That Jazz isn’t the first, nor last show of its kind. Reports claim MTV has Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word, a documentary about seven transgender youths, as well as scripted comedy Faking It, which features one of primetime’s first intersex characters
