LeBron James Introduces Nike Lebron 12

Kanye West‘s “Facts” may not have been the slam dunk (or swish) we’ve all been looking forward to, but he did make some bold statements about Nike.

On the track, Yeezy raps, “Nike treat employees just like slaves/ Gave LeBron a billi’ not to run away.”

Well, LeBron‘s reaction isn’t as priceless as we’d all hoped. When asked about the song in a recent group interview with Cleveland.com, the King claims he’s yet to hear the song. He offered a very diplomatic response, saying “Phil Knight’s greatest saying is ‘always listen to the heart of the athlete [and] listen to the words of the athlete. And that’s all it’s about, nothing else. Obviously I’m going to side with Nike no matter who it is. It’s just, it’s family when you talk about Nike, and I’m always on their side no matter what the situation is.”

adidas may be gaining on Nike in terms of popularity, but definitely not in terms of profit. The company made $17 billion last year, while Nike made a whopping $86 billion. So who’s really winning?

But this isn’t the most awkward thing LeBron has had to deal with recently, just ask Akron Beacon Journal‘s Jason Lloyd, who witnessed an odd interaction between LeBron and Cavaliers head coach David Blatt. After the Cavs beat the Raptors by 22 points, Blatt asked to speak to LeBron while he was just wearing a towel. LeBron noticed that he wasn’t dressed and said, “C’mon Coach. I can’t talk to you like this.” After awhile, LeBron gave in and spoke to the towel-wearing coach in his office. Soon after, LeBron emerged from the room and told Tristan Thompson, “That man was naked.”

Hopefully LeBron has an easier go at it next week.
