Did You Watch Empire Last Night? 2.12 – A Rose by Any Other Name

Poor Andre. He never catches a break. How ironic is it that this is the one time he actually isn’t crazy?

We have to sit and watch while everyone around him (besides his pastor) discredits what his heart is telling him. He is the only one who knows the fall wasn’t an accident, but it’s impossible for Rhonda to accept that he has been spoken to by God.

The death of their unborn child has driven them in two opposite directions. His new-found faith versus her new-found lack of faith will continue to tear them apart. The truth finally revealing itself may be the only thing left that will bring them back together.

The music in Empire keeps getting better. Jussie Smollett, who plays Jamal, has emerged as a truly talented artist. Last season’s music was lightyears behind the past few episodes, and its all been anchored by Smollett.

Last night premiered “Just Like My Daddy” and “Understand Why”, the latter a heart-wrenching ballad sure to warm even the coldest of hearts.

But the biggest play of the night came by way of Hakeem.

He finally steps up and makes a move that not only proves his loyalty but it brings his family back together as well. So that’s our happy ending right? Can the Lyon family celebrate?

Nope. Nothing in this show is that simple.
