New Law Requires Students to Learn How to Conduct Themselves During a Traffic Stop – blogged by @MsJennyb Illinois Governor #BruceRauner signed a bill into law on Friday that will require driver’s education students to learn how to handle being stopped by the police, ABC News reports. In an effort to prevent teenagers from panicking or acting irrationally when being pulled over, the new law will implement a new curriculum to teach students how to interact with authorities during a traffic stop so that things will not escalate. The instruction will demonstrate how to reach for your driver’s license without alarming an officer. In addition, teachers will reiterate how important it is to stay calm and cooperate. According to ABC News, the Secretary of State’s Office will develop the guidelines. The new curriculum will be put in place for the 2017-2018 school year.
