President Barack Obama again defended Colin Kaepernick’s right to protest during CNN’s presidential town hall Wednesday night, moderated by Jake Tapper. The president took a question from a crowd member who asked his thoughts on the slew of NFL National Anthem protesters. “Well, as I’ve said before, I believe that us honoring our flag and our anthem is part of what binds us together as a nation,” Obama said. “But I also always try to remind folks that part of what makes this country special is that we respect people’s rights to have a different opinion.” Obama also said he thought it was important for National Anthem protesters to think about how it affects members of the military and their families, but pointed out the devastation family members face when they lose a loved one to police brutality. “We need an adult in the White House. I guarantee you,” Michelle Obama said to an excited crowd at LaSalle University in Philadelphia on Wednesday. The First Lady appeared at a rally for Hillary Clinton, the first of a set of scheduled drop-ins. “When making life-or-death, war-or-peace decisions, a president can’t just pop off or lash out irrationally,” Obama said. She also took the opportunity to address the racist tone insinuated by Donald Trump’s birther movement against her husband and urged potential voters to choose Hillary, who she called, “The real deal.” Read more.
Terence Crutcher’s Family Embattled Over His Estate
Terence Crutcher’s wife and parents are on opposing sides in a bitter legal bid to file a wrongful death lawsuit on his behalf. Crutcher’s parents, Joey and Leanna Crutcher, claim their son’s wife, Frenchel Renae Johnson-Crutcher should be barred from serving as special administrator of his estate after a Tulsa County judge appointed her to the position. In court documents filed Monday, the Crutchers called Johnson-Crutcher “disqualified, ineligible and incompetent,” and also allege the couple was never legally married. The new ‘King of Comedy’ is none other than Kevin Hart. According to Forbes, Hart beat Jerry Seinfeld as the world’s highest paid comedian, racking in $87.5 million between June 2015 and June 2016. Seinfeld held the top spot for years; he’s worth an estimated $900 million in pre-tax earnings over the last decade. Hart’s earnings also secured him the number 6 spot on Forbes’ Celebrity 100.
