Actor Alan Thicke has died, his publicist confirmed.
Variety reports Thicke had a heart attack. He was 69 years old.
Thicke is perhaps best known for his role as TV dad Jason Seaver in the 1980s sitcom Growing Pains. He also recently made an appearance in Fuller House, the spinoff of another 80s sitcom, Full House.
He is the father of pop star Robin Thicke and is also survived by sons, Brennan and Carter, and wife, Tanya.
In addition to numerous acting appearances, including guest appearances on the hit show How I Met Your Mother, Thicke worked as a writer on TV series and specials during the 1970s and ’80s, including The Flip Wilson Show, The Bobby Darin Show, The Richard Pryor Show, and his own The Alan Thicke Show (1980-1982), Thicke of the Night (1983-1984) and Unusually Thicke (2014).
He also co-wrote the theme songs for several sitcoms in the 1970s, including the The Facts of Life and Diff’rent Strokes.
