CLEVELAND — A Cleveland man was sentenced to prison Thursday for placing his 7-year-old daughter in a dryer back in December.

Steve McClairn, 36, admitted in court to putting his developmentally disabled daughter in the dryer.

“I’m sorry for what I did,” McClairn told Judge Joan Synenberg.

He went on to tell the judge that he committed the heinous act to teach his daughter a lesson. The lesson? Why his daughter should stay out of the dryer.

Prosecutors say McClairn’s daughter lives with her mother but was visiting her dad when she was tossed in the dryer.

The young girl suffers from a cyst on her brain that prevents growth. And even though she’s seven, she is less than four-feet tall and weighs just 39 lbs.

McClairn was sentenced to eight years behind bars and three years probation.
