Instagram Will Start Blurring "Sensitive" Posts Before You're Able To View Them -blogged by @BenitaShae ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #Instagram is about to change the way you view "sensitive" content by blurring out certain photos and videos. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If a photo or video is reported and Instagram's moderation team thinks it's worth a blur, a message will appear: "This photo contains sensitive content which some people may find offensive or disturbing.” You'll then have to tap the post before you're able to view it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But the question is, what is classified as a "sensitive" post? Instagram told The Verge, "Examples include animal rights groups that share content to expose animal testing conditions or animal abuse, or content that raises awareness of humanitarian crises around the world (famine, impact of war on local communities)." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instagram makes it clear that what was banned before is still banned now but some content will be subject to a warning screen. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As for whether this could expand to sexually explicit content in the future, Instagram didn’t rule it out. “Over time we will explore expanding the application of screens into other areas,” the company said. Instagram's intention is to “build a safe environment” for users. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The company didn’t say exactly when people will start to see these blurred images. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What are your thoughts?
