Webbie—the Baton Rouge rapper whose real name is Webster Gradney, Jr.—was arrested early Wednesday on domestic assault charges, WVLA reports (via Billboard). Gradney allegedly held his girlfriend at a hotel for about two hours against her will, where he abused her with a closed fist, an open hand, and a belt. The victim told authorities that Gradney pinned her to the ground and pushed his knees into her throat. Charges include aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree battery, domestic abuse by strangulation, false imprisonment, theft, and simple criminal damage to property.

His girlfriend, who has not been named, also told authorities that Gradney had been consuming cocaine and marijuana for two days without sleeping. He also allegedly took her phone. Police assisting the victim reported visible marks on her thighs and back, multiple hematomas on her head, and other abrasions, lacerations, and bruises. The victim told authorities that while it was her first time reporting him, it was not the first time that Gradney had physically or verbally abused her.
