Coca-Cola Will Launch Its First Alcoholic Beverage – Blogged by: @RaquelHarrisTV ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #CocaCola is breaking barriers with its first alcoholic drink, which will hit stores for the first time in Japan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The new soft drink will be a version of “Chu-Hi” which is a sparkling, flavored beverage that includes spirits called Shochu. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "This is unique in our history," Jorge Garduño, president of Coca-Cola’s Japan business unit, said in a post on the company's website. "Coca-Cola has always focused entirely on non-alcoholic beverages and this is a modest experiment for a specific slice of our market." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The company is hoping to make a profit off the already popular Japanese alcopops market. Since young people around the world are starting to eat cleaner and kicking unhealthy habits like drinking pop to the curb, Coca-Cola wanted to try its luck in Japan’s alcoholic beverage business. The Guardian reports sales for alcopops have boosted 3 to 8 percent in the last five years, peaking the interest of the soft drink giant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, Coca Cola’s new drinks won’t ever be available to U.S. citizens. Scott Leith, a spokesman for the company, says the new alcoholic drink won’t be coming to the States. As of now, there’s no information on when the drink will hit shelves, nor how much it will cost.
