SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Craigslist ad on Feb. 28 that offered a child for sale, the Spokesman Review reported.

The newspaper said that investigators have seized records from Craigslist that could lead to the identity of whoever posted the ad spotted by a Spokane woman. Craigslist removed the ad the day after she saw it.

The ad, authored by someone claiming to be the child’s father, offered the boy, “Gavin,” for $5,000.

The author said the boy was a “great kid” but that he could no longer afford to care for him. It said the boy loves sports, won’t eat vegetables and can scream for hours at a time.
