With the memorial for DMX just days away, plans for the April 24 event are still being finalized. According to a new report, Swizz Beatz is hoping that Kanye West will agree to perform at the memorial, set to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Fans may remember a very special Sunday Service in 2019, during which DMX led a morning prayer at Yeezy’s popular music series. In addition to hard-hitting rhymes, X was known for his spiritual side, and religious themes were woven into many of his most popular releases.

During a 2019 interview with GQ, X seemed pleased with his Sunday Service experience.

“I wouldn’t call it a church service,” he said. “There’s no word. It’s joyful, which God says to do. We about to make a joyful noise. I enjoyed it. It was moving. I didn’t know what to expect, though.”

Years earlier, West and DMX teamed up for the track, “Dogs Out.” Kanye served as producer on the cut, which is featured on X’s Grand Champ album.

Speaking of music, DMX’s catalog experienced an enormous spike in streams since his passing. Already one of the bestselling rappers of all time, Billboard reports that streams of his songs increased 928% in the United States just days after his death.
