Ice cream anyone? Walmart thought they bagged a win with their Juneteenth inspired Ice Cream idea. . .but that idea did not last long at all! Yup they were ready set go on the red velvet and cheesecake swirl treat just in time for the holiday until social media caught wind and went in.
“Share and celebrate African-American culture, emancipation and enduring hope,” the label also read. But Walmart’s attempt to observe the Juneteenth Holiday deflated and left the store chain apologizing:
“Juneteenth holiday marks a commemoration and celebration of freedom and independence. However, we received feedback that a few items caused concern for some of our customers and we sincerely apologize.”
As you may know — Juneteenth is the [now federal] holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the US.
