The University of Akron hosted Streamer University from May 22 to May 25. Twitch star Kai Cenat led the weekend-long bootcamp for aspiring content creators. Over 120 attendees were selected from more than a million applicants.

Throughout the event, participants attended workshops on streaming, branding, monetization, and growing an online audience. Each session offered hands-on guidance from established creators. Guest instructors included popular streamers like DDG and ExtraEmily, who shared personal tips and career experiences.

Cenat designed the program to give creators a real-world production environment. Students collaborated on content, practiced live streaming, and built connections with others in the space. As a result, many walked away with new skills and strategies.

The event streamed live on Twitch, drawing a global audience. Viewers could watch panels, Q&As, and behind-the-scenes footage from the campus.

By hosting Streamer University, the University of Akron embraced a new form of media education. This move reflects its commitment to modern learning and the creator economy. Furthermore, the event positioned the school as a pioneer in digital collaboration.
