Browns Lock Up Denzel Ward Through 2029 With Record-Setting Contract Extension

🔥 Denzel Ward is getting paid. The Browns have reportedly rewarded their star cornerback with a record-setting extension that keeps him in Cleveland through the 2029 season.

The Cleveland Browns are reportedly keeping one of their cornerstone players in town for years to come.

According to multiple reports, Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward has agreed to a two-year, $62.2 million contract extension that will keep him with the Browns through the 2029 season. The deal reportedly includes more than $52 million in guaranteed money and makes Ward the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

The agreement comes as Browns veterans report to training camp and helps put to rest speculation that the team could move one of its longest-tenured stars as part of a roster rebuild.

Ward, a Cleveland native and former Ohio State standout, was selected by the Browns with the fourth overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Since entering the league, he has established himself as one of the NFL’s top defensive backs, earning five Pro Bowl selections while recording 18 interceptions, more than 100 passes defended and four defensive touchdowns.

Earlier this offseason, Ward acknowledged he would have to evaluate his future if major roster changes took place. However, after those questions surfaced, he made it clear he still wanted to remain in Cleveland.

While the Browns have not officially announced the extension, Ward appeared to celebrate the reported agreement with a post on his Instagram Story.
