Houston Funeral Home Director Accused of Forging Documents to Claim $2.2M Estate
A Houston funeral home operator is at the center of a high-profile criminal case. She is being accused of attempting to fraudulently obtain a deceased man’s estate through forged documents.
According to investigators, the woman is accused of creating fraudulent paperwork that falsely identified herself as the common-law spouse of the late Lawrence Gammon. This allegedly allowed her to claim an estate valued at more than $2.2 million.
Authorities have also accused her of forging documents related to funeral director and embalmer licensing. As a result, she now faces five felony charges, including theft, forgery, and tampering with a government record.
The case gained additional attention after video surfaced showing the defendant exchanging heated remarks with reporters outside the courthouse. She was responding to questions about the allegations.
Officials say she has posted an $800,000 bond and is expected to return to court in September. The allegations remain pending, and the charges have not yet been proven in court.
