Whitney Houston Auction: Iconic Memorabilia for Sale

Whitney Houston’s legacy is taking center stage once again. This renewed spotlight comes as the highly anticipated Whitney Houston auction is announced, with her estate preparing to auction off an extensive collection of personal memorabilia, iconic fashion pieces, and career-defining awards.

The Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation has partnered with Julien’s Auctions to host the event on August 11. Every dollar raised will benefit the foundation’s charitable programs. These include scholarships and community initiatives.

The collection features some of Houston’s most memorable wardrobe pieces. For example, it includes the mini dress she wore at the 1988 American Music Awards. It also includes a red Versace leather outfit from her VH1 Divas performance. There is also a Burberry coat from her Nothing But Love World Tour, and a Dolce & Gabbana gown worn during fittings for the My Love Is Your Love tour.

Fans will also have the opportunity to bid on several personal items. These include an MCM luggage collection, a Bob Mackie embellished jacket, and a Richard Avedon portrait that once hung in Houston’s office. In addition, her nine-times Platinum RIAA award for “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” will be available.

Organizers say the auction is designed to celebrate Houston’s remarkable career. At the same time, it will ensure her influence continues through the charitable work of the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation.

Pat Houston, president of the foundation and executor of Whitney Houston’s estate, said the organization is excited to once again partner with Julien’s Auctions. She added they want to offer fans access to rare memorabilia that has remained preserved in Houston’s archives.

The event also comes after Whitney Houston’s name recently returned to public conversation following renewed discussions about her life and career. Despite those headlines, the focus of this auction remains firmly on honoring her artistic legacy. It also aims to support future generations through philanthropy.

Several featured items will also be displayed during the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation’s Legacy of Love Gala before the auction officially begins.
