Boxing Match Ends In Comedic Spectacle On Social Media
Ray J Beats Orlando Brown in Boxing Match — But Social Media Says the Real Winner Was Comedy
- Ray J defeats Orlando Brown in a unanimous decision, bouncing back from a previous loss
- The fight is criticized on social media for its sloppy boxing and comedic moments
- Ray J's sister Brandy supports him, but advises against him fighting again
Ray J can officially add a boxing win to his résumé.
The singer and entrepreneur stepped into the ring against actor Orlando Brown during a fight card at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. After three rounds, judges awarded Ray J a unanimous-decision victory.
The matchup was part of Zeus Network’s event featuring Claressa Shields and Kaye Scott, and it gave Ray J an opportunity to bounce back after his previous knockout loss to Suge Knight’s son, Suge Jacob Knight.
But once clips of Ray J and Orlando’s fight started circulating online, fans had plenty to say.
Ray J Gets the Win, Orlando Brown Brings the Entertainment
Technically, Ray J handled business and got his hand raised.
But social media wasn’t exactly comparing the performance to a championship-level boxing match.
Fans quickly started joking about everything from the fighters’ technique to Orlando’s unusual movements inside the ring. Even with boxing stars Floyd Mayweather, Terence Crawford and Shakur Stevenson reportedly watching, the matchup became more of a viral moment than a showcase of elite boxing.
The fight also wasn’t completely random.
Ray J and Orlando Brown have exchanged words publicly in the past, with Brown previously making claims involving Ray J and repeatedly mentioning Ray J’s sister, Brandy.
So when the two finally stepped into the ring, there was already some history behind the matchup.
Social Media Roasts the Fight
Once footage hit social media, viewers immediately turned the fight into comedy material.
Some fans joked that Ray J celebrated like he had just won a heavyweight championship, while others questioned Orlando Brown’s fighting stance and technique.
One reaction summed up the overall mood by calling the matchup “a whole circus.”
Another joked that it looked exactly like the type of unpredictable entertainment viewers would expect from Zeus Network.
Regardless of the criticism, Ray J still walked away with the official victory.
Brandy Reacts to Her Brother’s Win
Ray J also had one very important supporter in his corner: his sister Brandy.
Following the fight, Brandy said she was proud of her brother and thought he performed well.
But when she was asked whether she’d like to see Ray J fight again, her answer was simple: no.
Ray J apparently isn’t ready to hang up the gloves just yet, though. Shortly afterward, he mentioned Jake Paul as someone he’d potentially like to face.
Whether that fight ever happens is another question entirely.
For now, Ray J is 1-0 in his latest trip to the ring, Orlando Brown gave social media plenty of material, and the internet may have gotten more entertainment out of the fight than anyone expected.
