Family Demands Answers After 6-Year Old Dies On A Bus (In The Heat)!
Prayers up! A Memphis family is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 6-year old Winter Jones, a young girl who authorities say was found in critical condition after allegedly being left on a 7daycare bus for several hours! Winter’s family is now demanding answers as investigators continue to look into the matter.
So what DID happen to Winter? According to her father, Bryan Jones, his daughter was supposed to be transported from a Kid University daycare bus to Macon-Hall Elementary School. Family members say Winter was never removed from the bus and was eventually discovered later that morning.
Winter was nonverbal and autistic, which her family says made it difficult for her to communicate, and would have further complicated her ability to bring awareness to her whereabouts. When she was found, her body temperature had reportedly reached 109 degrees! The temperature outside in Memphis that day was around 97 degrees!
Memphis police responded to a report involving a child in need of medical attention at approximately 3:23pm. Sadly, Winter was taken to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead. No charges has been announced at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
This situation is so sad! Winter couldn’t have asked for help if she wanted to and it breaks my heart…
Winter’s death has also raised concerns about the safety procedures used by the daycare and how children are accounted for after transportation. Tennessee childcare regulations require providers to check their vehicles and keep documentations showing that those inspections were done. The Tennessee Department of Human Services has confirmed that it is involved in the investigation and has expressed condolences to Winter’s Family.
Please keep this family lifted up in prayer!
