Halle Berry Discusses Faking Orgasms In Younger Years
Halle Berry Gets Candid About Why She Faked Orgasms When She Was Younger
Halle Berry is opening up about sex, communication and one bedroom habit she says she left behind years ago.
The 59-year-old actress recently spoke candidly about faking orgasms when she was younger, explaining that there were times when pretending was simply the quickest way to bring an unsatisfying sexual experience to an end.
Berry joked that sometimes you simply want the “pounding to stop,” so you pretend everything went well and move on.
But behind the funny delivery, Berry made a much bigger point about how her understanding of intimacy has changed as she’s gotten older.
Halle Says She Used to Put Her Partner’s Feelings First
According to Berry, part of the reason she faked pleasure was because she was more concerned about making her partner feel good about himself than communicating what she actually needed.
Instead of telling a partner that she hadn’t reached orgasm, Berry said she would sometimes pretend she had because she wanted him to believe he’d satisfied her.
Looking back, she sees that as putting someone else’s needs ahead of her own.
And that’s something she says she no longer does.
Halle Berry Says She’s Much More Vocal Now
These days, Berry says communication in the bedroom is completely different.
If something isn’t working for her, she’s willing to say so.
Rather than quietly enduring something she doesn’t enjoy, Berry says she’ll stop it and communicate what she actually wants.
Her philosophy now is that intimacy shouldn’t be focused entirely on satisfying one person.
Both partners should enjoy the experience.
Berry explained that she’s no longer interested in pretending for the sake of protecting somebody else’s ego. She wants the same consideration and pleasure that she’s willing to give her partner.
And at 59, she appears much more comfortable saying exactly what she does — and doesn’t — want.
Let’s Talk About It
Halle’s comments raise an interesting relationship question:
Is faking an orgasm ever harmless — or does it actually hurt a relationship because your partner never learns what you really enjoy?
