I-X Center Announces Comeback, Restoring Major Cleveland Events
Clevelanders thought they had seen the end of the I-X Center earlier this year, but the longtime event venue just delivered some unexpected news: “WE ARE BACK!”
The I-X Center announced that it will continue hosting events while the property remains available for potential long-term redevelopment.
That means several major shows that Northeast Ohio families have attended for years will return to the massive Cleveland venue.
Major Cleveland Events Will Return
The I-X Center says longtime events including the Cleveland Auto Show, Progressive Cleveland Boat Show, Great Big Home + Garden Show and Ohio RV Supershow will continue.
The announcement marks a major turnaround after the venue hosted what officials previously described as its final consumer show earlier this year.
The I-X Center held the I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama from March 27-29, leading many people to believe the building’s days as a major Cleveland event venue had come to an end.
Now, that has changed.
Management says continuing events allows exhibitors and guests to return to a building that has hosted Northeast Ohio events for more than four decades.
I-X Center Has Welcomed More Than 50 Million Guests
The I-X Center first opened in 1985 and says more than 50 million guests have walked through its doors since then.
General Manager Lisa Vo said the venue plans to continue delivering the large-scale consumer shows and industry events that have helped define the building over the years.
At the same time, ownership can continue exploring the property’s future, including the possibility of attracting a manufacturing operation that could bring jobs and investment to Cleveland.
For now, however, the lights are staying on and the shows are coming back.

The current schedule includes:
- Ohio RV Supershow: Sept. 10-13, 2026
- Cleveland Christmas Connection: Nov. 20-22, 2026
- Progressive Cleveland Boat Show: Jan. 14-17, 2027
- Great Big Home + Garden Show: Jan. 29-Feb. 7, 2027
- Cleveland Auto Show: Feb. 26-March 7, 2027
- Cleveland Home + Remodeling Expo: March 19-21, 2027
For Clevelanders who grew up attending everything from auto shows to holiday events inside the enormous building, the announcement means another chapter for one of Northeast Ohio’s most recognizable venues.
The I-X Center may still have an uncertain long-term future, but one thing is clear right now: it’s back in business.
