Pharrell Called T-Pain And Basically Said: "Bring Back The R&B"

If it’s one thing T-Pain did for the game, he changed it with an influence like none other!

Pharrell Williams recently reached out to Teddy P with a challenge he believes the singer is uniquely qualified to take on: help bring a fresh sound back to R&B!

During a recent livestream, T-Pain got a call from Pharrell, who encouraged him to get back in the studio and create the kind of R&B music he feels is missing today!

Pharrell believes T-Pain has something special that very few artists can offer the game:

“What the f*** are you doing man,” … ” You are the bridge. Ain’t nobody like you, bro.” … “I feel like you’re the bridge to bringing back R&B to what I feel like it means to black people.” — Pharrell to T-Pain!

Pharrell went on about seeing T-Pain as someone who can connect with the younger generation, while still keeping his own personality and style at the center of the music. T-Pain agreed with Pharrell’s perspective and said he was willing to put his focus back on creating music that fills that gap! I love to hear that!

The conversation comes as T-Pain continues to reflect on his career and the impact of his use of auto-tune. He recently discussed Jay-Z’s criticism of the technology on the song “D.O.A.” Despite Hov taking shots at auto-tune, T-Pain made it clear he’s a longtime fan of Jay! He even joked about the irony of becoming one of the biggest artists associated with a sound that Hov once criticized! Seems like T-pain could take Pharrell’s challenge serious, and fans could be getting some new music from “Teddy Penderassdown” real soon!
