Trey Songz Sues Texas Promoter Over Postponed Concert

Trey Songz wants more than $500,000 from a Texas concert promoter after a planned show at the Will Rogers Auditorium in Fort Worth never happened as scheduled.

According to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Trey’s production company says it reached an agreement with promoter Darryl Austin in April for Trey to perform at the venue on August 8.

The lawsuit claims Austin made the first required payment but failed to make the second installment by its July 8 deadline.

Trey’s team also claims the promoter failed to properly market the concert. According to the complaint, Trey’s representatives repeatedly offered to help promote the event, but Austin allegedly declined their assistance.

Instead, the lawsuit says Austin requested that they postpone the show.

Trey Songz Says He Was Ready to Perform

Trey’s company claims the singer remained ready and willing to take the stage as originally planned. However, Austin allegedly moved forward with postponing the concert anyway.

According to the lawsuit, Ticketmaster then informed ticket holders that organizers had postponed the event without providing an explanation for the change.

Trey’s company argues that the situation caused financial damage beyond the unpaid performance fee.

The lawsuit claims the company also lost potential meet-and-greet revenue and suffered damage to its professional reputation and future earning potential.

Trey Wants More Than Half a Million Dollars

Trey’s team now seeks more than $500,000 in damages, along with legal costs and any additional relief the court decides to award.

The lawsuit represents Trey Songz and his company’s allegations. A court has not yet determined whether the promoter violated the agreement or owes the damages Trey’s team seeks.
