Chinese Hackers Breached Multiple US Federal Agencies

Chinese-linked hackers allegedly breached U.S. government networks and critical infrastructure, and when you see the list of agencies involved, this story gets REAL serious, real quick.

According to the Department of Justice, hackers targeted the Federal Reserve, Department of Justice, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services, NASA, National Institutes of Health, National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the U.S. Senate.

Yeah… basically some pretty important places.

Federal investigators say two hacking platforms called QScan and QTRouter helped give the hackers access to computer systems.

The DOJ and FBI have now seized domains connected to those platforms in an effort to shut the operation down.

Here’s where China comes into the story.

Federal officials accuse a Chinese state-sponsored hacking group known as QTFY of creating and operating the platforms behind the attacks.

Attorney General Todd Blanche says federal law enforcement investigated the malicious software and worked to disable the operation. He also says the government plans to continue going after state-sponsored hackers who target American infrastructure.

Now, just think about this for a second.

We’re not talking about somebody hacking your Instagram and changing your password.

We’re talking about alleged hackers getting into networks connected to the Federal Reserve, DOJ, NASA and the U.S. Senate.

That’s a completely different level.

And it raises the bigger question: If hackers can get into networks connected to some of the most powerful agencies in America, how secure is everybody else?!

Because THAT is the part that would have me looking at this story like… hold up now.
