Kim Kardashian took a swing at her soon-to-be ex-husband on Sunday night`s premiere of her E! reality show, “Kourtney and Kim Take New York.”

“What you`re seeing there is domestic violence,’” Dr. Drew said on his HLN show Monday night. “It looks playful. What`s the big deal? It is a massive deal … anybody viewing this has to understand the spectrum of domestic violence and this is an incontrovertible piece of evidence of someone engaged in a domestic violence relationship … when it starts like that, it always starts like that … then, it`s a broken jaw and the emergency room.”

Clinical psychologist Michelle Golland agreed that people may think it’s just playful. “We wouldn`t let our children do this to each other, right?” she said.

Dr. Drew replied, “You would say, ‘no punching, use your words, not your hands.’ But the fact is, what we know about domestic violence – it is a massive problem in our culture. It`s illegal, and it goes to a bad place. It progresses. It starts and goes. It doesn’t stay right here … It goes to a horrible, horrible place.”

Dr. Drew and Golland reviewed the tape aon-air.

“There it is with her punching straight up,” Dr. Drew noted. “And look at the way Kris is grabbing her. That`s not OK … This is serious stuff. Michelle and I see this out in the world every day. It`s because people minimize this stuff until it gets to the emergency room. Then, they`re wondering what happened.”

Golland added, “this is not what you do. You do not touch and hurt your partner in any way.”

The Dr. Drew staff reached out to Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries and their representatives for comment, but have not yet heard back from them.
