BEACHWOOD, Ohio – Police were called to Beachwood Place Mall on Thursday night for a report of juveniles rioting in the mall around 7 p.m.
There were no reports of injuries, but shoppers told NewsChannel5 that people were running out of the mall in a panic at the time the fight broke out. The event was captured on video that was posted on YouTube.
Police described the scene as a riot involving several juveniles. Police broke up several fights and had to battle pepper spray which was deployed by one of the persons involved in the fight.
One person was arrested by Beachwood police.
Police remained on scene for several hours after the fighting to ensure that the area was safe.
Beachwood officers said they are investigating the possibility that the entire incident may have been sparked by a message posted on the internet by a teen.
Beachwood Place Mall offered the following statement:
“Beachwood police were called to Beachwood Place at 7 p.m. this evening after mall security called in reports of several teens fighting on mall property. No one was injured in the incident, and shoppers remained safe throughout the evening. From newsnet5.com
