CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

As construction continues inside the Historic Higbee building, applications are now being accepted for dealer and table game supervisor positions, as well as some select management roles for the new Horseshoe Casino Cleveland.  “No experience is necessary.  Individuals with great attitudes and a desire to provide great customer service are encouraged to apply,” said General Manager Marcus Glover.

Through Sept. 30, 2011, online applications are being accepted at the casino’s website, http://www.horseshoecleveland.com/, to help Glover and his executive team identify nearly 1,600 people to work at the casino when it opens in March 2012.  Horseshoe Cleveland has committed to hire more than 90 percent of its workforce from Northeast Ohio.

“Based on the interest we hear from people throughout this community, we expect and are prepared to screen thousands of applicants,” Glover said.  Glover cited Horseshoe’s experience opening casinos in other new gaming markets where applicants far outnumbered jobs available.   “It is exciting to be at this point, where we can begin to identify and interview candidates with our thorough and competitive process,” he said.

Horseshoe Cleveland is most eager to identify candidates who can begin training for about 500 poker dealer, table game dealer, poker supervisor and table game supervisor positions, Glover said.  These positions will make up the casino’s single largest team, staffing 63 table games and a 300-seat World Series of Poker® room inside the 24-hour casino.   The positions are being recruited first because they require the most training, especially in a market where commercial gaming is a new industry.

“Dealer candidates who successfully demonstrate an eagerness to learn and embrace Horseshoe’s commitment to providing legendary guest service will be invited to enroll in our Dealer Service Training Academy later this fall,” Glover said.  Select academy graduates will be hired and will begin working at the casino next spring.

Newly appointed vice president of Human Resources, Karen Kaminski, said that the casino is also accepting online applications for management positions in facilities, gaming, compliance, human resources, security and information technology.  “As the casino prepares to open, we will post more back-of-house and administrative career opportunities,” she said.  In non-gaming areas, generally management assignments will be filled first followed by supervisory and then staff positions, she added.
