CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –
The Cleveland Browns showed they “DO” know how to close out a game recording their first win of the season in Indianapolis.
Everything just seemed to go right for the Browns as they emerged with a 27-19 victory over the Colts.
Cleveland led 14-12 going into the 3rd quarter and capitalized in the 4th with a Phil Dawson field goal followed by a Peyton Hillis touchdown.
Hillis scored his first two touchdowns of the season, the first on a one-yard touchdown plunge in the second quarter and later a 24-yard rush in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Colt McCoy completed 22 of 32 passes for 211 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. Josh Cribbs returned a punt 52 yards. With 80 kickoff return yards today, Cribbs surpassed Desmond Howard (7,959) for seventh place on the NFL all-time kickoff return yards list.
Sunday’s game was Pat Shurmur’s first win as an NFL coach. With the win, the Browns improved to 1-1. They are15-12 all-time against the Colts, including a 10-5 mark on the road and a 5-4 record in Indianapolis.
The Browns are back home next week. They host Miami.
