Outcast may never record another album, despite rumours of a 2012 release from the duo. Andre 3000 deflated any hopes that fans have been harboring for the past 6 years… regarding a reunion of the hiphop group.

“There’s been a lot of talk on the internet about an OutKast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album,” Dre said in an interview with GQ. “I really don’t know if or when that will happen.”

Big Boi started hyping a comeback album as far back as August 2009: “It’s coming and the album is fire!” Later that year, Big Boi announced following his and Dre’s solo albums… the duo’s comeback albulm would be released in 2010…”depending on how the fans support them”.

While Big Boi’s solo album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty was released, there has been no sign of Andre 3000′s solo outing. Instead, the MC has appeared as featured artist on a numerous  high-profile hiphop singles. In the past year he has contributed verses to tracks by Beyoncé, Lloyd, Young Jeezy, Ke$ha, Drake and B.O.B. (VIA: The Guardian)

“I’ve been taking those calls and for the last two years … doing collaborations,” Andre 3000 said. “These new artists have kind of been keeping me alive. I’ve just really been feeding off of that, and this year I think I’m planning to do a solo project. I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully it’ll come out this year.

“The only thing I can really say is I’m going to get back to having fun,” he said. “That’s what it was all about when I started this in high school with OutKast. Those were like high school dreams. I’m 36 now, so I have grown-man dreams. This album will just be me being myself as normal.”

Sad… How come all the good groups never last :(
