CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

With flashing lights and plenty of fanfare, Cleveland’s highly-anticipated casino opened to the public on Monday night!

More than 4,000 members of the public lined up for hours to be the first to experience Horseshoe Casino Cleveland in the Historic Higbee Building.

“So many people worked so long to make this vision happen.”

During the opening ceremonies, owner Dan Gilbert thanked a lot of people. From politicians to the trade workers and unions involved in the construction to the new casino staff. He also said he believes this is a way to revitalize downtown Cleveland.

The casino is projected to attract nearly 5 million annual visits to the downtown, Horseshoe Cleveland will be another high-profile addition to the city’s impressive sports, entertainment, music and cultural destinations. The estimated $350 million new development created nearly 1,600 casino jobs.

With 96,000 square feet of non-stop gaming action, the casino will feature approximately 2,100 slot machines, 65 table games and a 30-table World Series of Poker room.

Horseshoe Cleveland will offer several dining options, including a 400 seat buffet, a 3-outlet food court as well as two bars.

casino will now be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
