It’s been a few of weeks since a zombie-esque incident has been reported, but there’s a man in North Carolina who was just itching to be recognized for his idiosyncrasies. Travis Glaspie was apprehended by the Wilmington Police Department on outstanding warrants, when a police dog, Maxx, ran after him.

After catching up to Glaspie, man and dog engaged in a struggle, ending with the K-9 being bitten in the ear, splitting it in two. The dog needed 14 stitches, but will recover. “As far as someone trying to cannibalize a dog…I’ve never seen that before,” said Maxx’s police partner Cpl. David Pellegrino.

Not surprisingly, Glaspie denies purposely dining on the dog’s ear. “I just, I didn’t know what it was,” he said, from jail. “They say I bit his ear off. I don’t think I did that.”

The 22-year-old’s food choice was out of line, but on the scale of bad decisions, he’s got some stiff competition. As previously reported, a Miami man ate a homeless man’s face, before being killed by police. In the aftermath, the man’s girlfriend spoke out against cannibalism.

As for Glaspie he is being held on $1.25 million bond for a slew of charges, including attacking the dog.
