With best friend Floyd Mayweather in jail, rapper 50 Cent has not stopped working. Curtis Jackson, (50′s real name) has applied to become a boxing promoter and has been granted a license in New York and is awaiting the decision of Nevada. ‘ TMT’ has long been synonomous with the names 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather, now the rapper has legitimate ties to the ring other than being ringside at Mayweather’s fights.

When you think about it, who has the popularity to bring the young crowd that boxing desperately needs to watch fights? 50 Cent may have not been pushing out platinum records as of late, but as we all know from his rap beef tactics and constant Twitter rants, he’s nothing but a walking  promotion.

According to Sports Illustrated writer Chris Mannix, he’s already lined up boxers such as former featherweight title holder Yuri Gamboa and super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell that are expected to sign on the dotted line of ‘TMT’. Is Floyd Mayweather next? Maybe the tag team duo will hook up for a partnership after the champion superstar is released from jail in six days. Who said 50 Cent wasn’t winning?
