Former member of the group Blaque, Natina Reed was killed Saturday morning after being hit by a car on a busy Atlanta highway.  Understandably her friends, family and former group members are devastated by the loss which happened the day before Natina’s 33rd birthday.  Details were sketchy at first as to what may have caused the accident but now her family is speaking out with more information and the father of her son Kurupt has also released a statement. Natina and Kurupt share a son, 10-year-old Tren and Kurupt released this statement yesterday:

“Myself and Tren, Natina’s son, would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this tragic time. This is a tremendous loss to our family. Natina was a great person and I wish everyone had the opportunity to meet her and know her as I did.”

Natina and her former group members Brandi Williams and Shamari Fears-Devoe were protege’s of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez from TLC who signed them to her label Left Eye Productions in the late 90′s.  Brandi and Shamari released a joint statement saying that the group had reunited and was working on a new album and reality show:

“We are devastated by the loss of our group member, sister and friend Natina Reed. Because of the enormous support of Blaque fans and our love for each another, Blaque officially reunited this fall and we were in the process of working on a new album and a reality show. Natina continuously embodied the pioneering spirit of Blaque and her undeniable creativity touched the hearts of fans everywhere. Natina was a mother, sister, accomplished songwriter, artist and friend. We ask for your prayers at this time for Natina’s family. She will forever be missed and her global influence eternally felt. We thank God for the experiences we shared.”
