Who woulda thunk it? After much protest from the family of Emmett Till, Pepsi Co has responded by dropping Lil Wayne.

Wayne “acknowledged” that he may have offended the family in an open letter, but never officially apologized. And thefamily was not satisfied with the Young Money rapper making a disrespectful mockery of the slain civil rights victim.

In Future’s song “Karate Chop,” Wayne raps:

Bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels / Beat that pu**y up like Emmett Till.

Protesting an artist’s endorsements over offensive lyrics seems to be pretty effective; Rick Ross was dropped by Reebok after insinuating date rape on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.,” which prompted protest from various women’s rights groups.

In a brief statement by Pepsi Co. today, the company stated that Lil’ Wayne’s, ”offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand.”

I’m lilD, and that’s the Word Eye Heard. Can Sprite drop Drake for being moist…..?
