About 15 years ago, a rapper named Afroman released “Because I Got High.” The tongue-in-cheek song was considered a novelty record by most, but managed to make some considerable noise, peaking at No. 25 on the Billboard Top 40 charts in 2001 and becoming a top five hit overseas, before the rapper faded into obscurity. He was even nominated for a Grammy Award for the track. Well, many would suspect that he’s still getting high on something after taking a look at this shocking video.

Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, was arrested Tuesday night (Feb. 17) in Biloxi, Miss. after punching a woman in the face during a performance at local venue Kress Live. The entertainer was performing at the venue’s Fat Tuesday event, which took place following Biloxi’s Mardi Gras Parade.

According to WLOX 13, Kress Live owner Chase Taylor stopped the performance once the attack occurred. “Afroman was about five songs into his set when the incident occurred,” Taylor said. “We pulled the plug on him, and security met him at the bottom of the stage to escort him outside, where he was taken into custody.”
