A Cleveland police officer acquitted of charges in a deadly 2012 police chase and his twin brother were due in Rocky River Municipal Court Thursday morning.

Earlier in June, Cleveland police officer Michael Brelo and his twin brother, Mark J. Brelo, entered a not guilty plea to assault charges through their attorneys.

Mark Brelo appeared in court, but Michael was not present.

Mark’s attorney, Brian Moriarty, said they anticipate the case to be resolved by some time next week. They have been discussing with officials and prosecutors to work out a deal, which could include anywhere to a fine or a fine with probation.
