A suspect has been apprehended in shootings at an Orlando office building, the city’s mayor said Friday.

One person has died and five others wounded, the Police Chief Val Demings said.

Another official said the wounded victims are in stable condition.

Demings said the gunman appears to have acted alone. “From the briefing I’m aware of it was one lone gunman,” she said.

Fire Commander Vicki Robles said earlier authorities had been searching for Jason Rodriguez, who formerly worked for Reynolds Smith and Hills in Gateway Center in Orlando.

A spokesman for Reynolds Smith and Hills, a facilities and infrastructure consulting firm, said a former employee let go for performance issues came in Friday morning “and started shooting.”
